A WorkForce co-founder, Maria hails from South Africa where she attained a degree in fine arts from the University of the Witwatersrand. Always looking beyond borders, she began her first ‘real job’ teaching English in Taiwan. By the end of her four years working in Asia, Maria was filling vacancies in schools with teachers from abroad - an international recruiter was born. Maria then moved into the corporate world, working for recruitment giant, Randstad. After consecutive years of leading the firm’s candidate placements in Cyprus, Maria and John established WorkForce. Inspired by the power of personal relationships, she ensures that WorkForce maintains its personal touch while building its global brand. Maria continues to indulge her passion for travelling, now with her young family in tow as well.
Also from South Africa, a co-founder of WorkForce, John holds a degree in industrial psychology from the University of Potchefstroom in South Africa. He began his career in HR consulting at a nationwide company in South Africa, dealing primarily in the financial sector. He then moved to Greece where he continued again in HR - managing and setting up offices in Athens and Thessaloniki. John and Maria combined their skills setting up WorkForce in 2008 with a strong focus on business development, headhunting and operations. He is an active member of the CyHRMA, participating and presenting various workshops and seminars on HR issues. John continues to drive the business forward through establishing longterm partnerships with people and companies.
With a master’s degree cum laude in Human Resource Management from the University of Leeds, Pauline hails from multicultural origins with an inquisitive mind, a strong work ethic and an uncanny ability to communicate with clientele from all walks of life. She commenced her career in the publishing world working as a sales & marketing executive and later as a journalist, dealing with worldwide travel trade professionals, conducting interviews, sourcing news as well as writing industry-related articles and destination reports. With a particular penchant for recruitment and selection within the HR field as well as for digital media, Pauline was swiftly recruited by WorkForce as a recruitment consultant, where she aims to assist in the company’s growth, especially across social media platforms.
Hailing from the heart of the Cotswolds in England with Scottish heritage, Tom joined the WorkForce family to assist with all aspects of recruitment. With a strong passion for people and communication – skills he honed whilst previously managing customer and supplier relationships within the Events and Hospitality sectors – Tom desires to expand his recruitment skillset, whilst ensuring the delivery of top-notch care and service to both clients and candidates. As a tech-savvy Millennial, Tom also aims to drive the company’s digital & IT activities into the new age.
